Winter Eye Care Advice… Don’t Forget your Sunglasses

Yep, it's true. Sunglasses aren't just an essential accessory in the sunny season. Although many of us are informed of the dangers the sun poses to our eyes in the summer, we don't all realize that we need to take extra care in the winter as well.

In reality, the UV rays that shine down on you during the summer still exist in the winter. And they pose a problem to your eyes' safety, especially when reflected off a bright snow. Those of you who love vacations that include skiing and snowboarding should be especially careful if you plan to spend a long time in the intense reflected sunlight which is potentially damaging to the eye. It's crucial to shield your eyes from harmful ultraviolet rays.

So what's the optimal way to protect your eyes in the cold season? Optometrists suggest using sunglasses that block UV rays, so be sure to invest in a durable pair of sunglasses that is suitable for all year round. Select a pair that is fitting and totally protects your eyes.

We can assist you to make sure you're getting sunglasses that provide you with the best protection. In addition, there are a variety of different lenses available and we are here to help you choose the combination that suits your lifestyle. Don't forget about your eyes on the slopes either. The right set of ski goggles preferably with polycarbonate lenses can help guard your eyes from swinging branches, reckless ski pole tips and other slope dangers.

This winter make sure you sport your shades... your eyes will feel the difference.
