Dr. Deanna Hwang was born and raised in Welland, Ontario. She attended the University of Guelph, followed by the University of Waterloo where she graduated from the School of Optometry in 1997. She completed an internship in Denver, Colorado at OMNI Eye Care where she worked with fellow optometrists and ophthalmologists (corneal and retinal specialists). While in Denver, honing her patient care skills, she also had the opportunity to improve her skiing skills on the beautiful slopes of Colorado. Always opinionated and politically active, she served as President of the Canadian Association of Optometric Students while in school and continued her volunteer work as an active member of the Scope and Standards of Practice Committee and the Clinical Practice Committee for the College of Optometrists of Ontario. She joined Dr. Mimmo Gagliardi and Dr. Jack DiBerardino at Sheridan Optometric Centre in 1998. Dr. Hwang feels very fortunate to be doing what she loves in a great Mississauga community with the support of the caring members of the Sheridan team. After over fifteen years, she is still enjoying the excellent results of her LASIK vision correction surgery. Dr. Hwang lives with her husband and three children in north Toronto.
